We have no practice on Thursday, so our last practice before Ridgefield is tomorrow.
Please be on time and ready to go.

Friday (9/16) Meet Now In East Lyme

Fairfield Ludlowe cancelled our varsity meet on Friday (9/16), which was scheduled to be held at Staples High School. We now are competing against East Lyme in East Lyme at 3:30 pm. The bus will leave Staples at 1:30 pm.

Lady Wreckers Place in Kiwanis Triathlon

Gabrielle Wimer (left) came in first and Emily Greene (right) came in second among girls 15-19 in Sunday’s Westport Kiwanis Minuteman Triathlon. Gabby, who was 60th overall, had a time of 50:51.9. Emily, who came in 64th overall, had a time of 51:39.9. Congratulations to them both! (And congratulations to Gabby’s brother Max – a freshman member of the Staples Boys Water Polo Team – who came in first in the boys 13-14 age group and sixth overall.)

Register for Kiwanis Triathlon 2011

Next Sunday (9/11) is the annual Westport Kiwanis Triathlon. I encourage all my swimmers to participate (see the team calendar for a description). Click to register for the triathlon.

If you don’t want to compete, please volunteer to work the event . You can  email me or talk to me after practice. I will need high school swimmers to work at the registration table.

Staples Closed on Monday (8/29), No Practices

Because of Tropical Storm Irene, Westport schools will be closed on Monday, August 28 and everything that was scheduled for Monday will occur on Tuesday.

The first day of the school year will be Wednesday (8/31).

Mandatory Parents Meeting

There will be a mandatory parents’ meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in the Staples High School cafeteria. Any swimmer who wishes to be a member of the varsity or junior varsity swimming and diving team must be represented by a parent or guardian.

Swimmers who did not order team suits and other apparel at try-outs should also attend.

Details and an agenda for the parents’ meeting will be posted at the end of the month.

Banquet Reminder

Greetings! The end of season banquet is this Wednesday, December 8th, 6 PM – 9PM, at the Shorehaven Golf Club, 14 Canfield Avenue in Norwalk.  Please remember that it is a country club and it is a banquet so dress appropriately. No denim allowed.  See you in a couple of days.

Practice on 11/22 for All Varsity & JV

Monday, November 22 Practice for Staples Girls Swim and Dive will be a fun “Play and Learn to Play Water Polo” from 2:30 to 4 pm for all girl swimmers, both varsity and jv.

Bus to Yale for State Open

The bus will leave Staples High School at 9:00 am to go to Yale University for the swimming State Open.
