Former Captain Raising Money for African Orphan

December 1, 2015 by ·

Gabrielle Wimer, a former co-captain of the Girls Swimming & Diving Team, is raising money to create a scholarship fund for an African orphan.

This past summer, Gabrielle – who is a pre-med student at the University of Chicago – worked for WE-ACTx for Hope, an HIV clinic in Kigali, Rwanda.

While in Kigali, Gabrielle met A, the 15-year-old daughter of a couple that had HIV. A’s father died in 2008 and her mother died of HIV/AIDS in July, while Gabrielle was working at the clinic.
