November 20, 2017 by

The Staples High School girls swim team came in third tonight in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) open at Yale University. It was the highest Wrecker finish in more than 30 years. Greenwich won its third straight title (18th overall) with Cheshire second. For Staples, success came behind first place performances by Marissa Healy (50 free) and Esme Hunter (100 free).  Also contributing points in individual events were Michelle Kennedy, Willow Woods, Annie Bowens, and Mia Fraas. The Medley Relay (Hunter, Woods, Healy, Bowens), the 400 Free Relay (Healy, Kennedy, Fraas, Hunter) and the 200 Free Relay (Woods, Bowens, Olivia Utter, & Kennedy) all placed in the top eight.
