The Daily 5 in high school sports: FCIAC swimmers to watch

With the season just getting underway, here are some FCIAC girls swimmers who should make some waves for their respective teams this fall:

Kelly Montesi, Greenwich: The senior won the 100-yard butterfly title at the State Open championships last season and was the champion in the event at the Class LL meet. She also placed second in the 200 individual medley at the State Open and was the Class LL champion in the event.

Sarah Grinalds, Fairfield Ludlowe: A senior, Grinalds is coming off a junior campaign that saw her finish second at the State Open title in the 50-yard freestyle and win the 500 freestyle. Showing her talent in both sprint and distance the events, she also won the two races at the Class LL championships.

Willow Woods, Staples: The versatile senior is one of the premier competitors in the state in the 200-yard individual medley event. She placed third in the race at the State Open and and was the runner-up at the Class LL competition. She also excels in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Hannah Snyder, Ridgefield: The junior proved herself to be one of the top sprinters in the state last season, placing fourth in the 50 freestyle at the State Open. She also finished seventh in the 100 freestyle. She also flourishes in the relay events — the 200 medley and 400 freestyle.

Meghan Lynch, Greenwich: Only a freshman, Lynch made quite a debut for the Cardinals against Glastonbury on Saturday. She won the 200 freestyle and also finished first in the 100 butterfly.
